Ships with Painted Sails

From the Herald de Paris Ancient City found on ocean floor....and from Donovan:

The continent of Atlantis was an island, which lay before the great flood, in the area we now call the Atlantic Ocean

So great an area of land that from her western shores
Those beautiful sailors journeyed to the South
And the North Americas with ease
In their ships with painted sails

To the East, Africa was a neighbor
Across a short strait of sea miles
The great Egyptian age is but a remnant of the Atlantian culture
The antediluvian kings colonized the world;
All the Gods who play in the mythological dramas
In all legends from all lands were from fair Atlantis

Knowing her fate, Atlantis sent out ships
To all corners of the Earth
On board were the
Twelve: The poet, the physician, the farmer, the scientist
The magician and the other so-called Gods of our legends

Though Gods they were
And as the elders of our time choose to remain blind
Let us rejoice and let us sing
And dance and ring in the new
Hail Atlantis!

Way down below the ocean where I want to be, she may be...

This reminds of Patrick Duffy in Man from Atlantis. I believe it was one of the first American shows that appeared on Chinese TV.

Gorilla: my goodness, the breadth of tv coverage in the Congo is amazing!

Wonder if there are also lost cities beneath the tree roots in your forest?

Heather:
Yes, it was very nice to hear it again after so long. The introduction and the scottish accent are what really make the song great.

Tuneful Moo!

That song could be used as an opening on the History Channel.

I'd like to be under the sea in an octopus's garden in the shade.

Especially if it found me in a place like Atlantis.

Very cool things, these songs packed with legendary lore.

I do vaguely remember this one from somewhere.

Never heard this one, but rather enjoyed it. But Donovan always reminds me of Leo Sayer for some reason.

RJ: Yes, the History Channel could do good stuff with this lore...

Linda: would look very cute in Octopus Garden...

Only, what shoes would you be wearing? Very important thing to get right :)

Karen: this song was old...but very cool...glad you remember it!

Madame: Leo Sayer, ah, yes!

Cow thinks Madame would like the song should she hear it..

Moo!

i had forgotten about donovan - my brother had one of his albums back in the 60s.

will have to see if i can find one in the thrift shops.

and on another note - please don't come looking for single men in kansas. the mid-west male mentality is still in the 60s....

there i said it.
