Not a potato after all

Strangely enough, "The War of the Worlds" was just moved to the book recycle bin yesterday in Topiary's attempt to de-clutter the bookcase. Not that it isn't a good book. Just a trifle dated. And the forward by Isaac Asimov explaining the social context of the story...boring is being kind.
Probably Orson Welles' production will never be topped. Recommendation: listen to the radio broadcast instead of reading the book.
Moo!

Don't you find it hard to throw out a book? I had to make a few tough choices recently and send boxes of books down to the Salavation Army shop. It was an emotional event.
Did you know, that a couple of days ago it was international Talk Like A Pirate day.
Ay, it be that I forgot too me matey.
I have had books that will fall apart before I will part with them, from the clutches of my gnarled hands or is that narly?
Pirate day? oh my, I have fallen down the rabbit hole Alice!
Didn't a lot of people think the Martians were really invading when the Welles' broadcast first went out? That must have been fun to watch.
Linda: yes. Books are a blessing and a bane. So heavy, yet so dear. And as soon as you get rid of one you will probably regret it.
RJ: yes, and a lot of those old books are very hard to find, you must keep them even though they are falling apart.
Gorilla: yes, they did such a realistic broadcast that despite announcing several times that it was a radio show, apparently there was quite a panic.
