Mundane

Topiary bought a new vacuum. Those pesky hedge clipping were rather piling up and the Topiary Dwelling needed a good clean.

Regular readers will know of Topiary's struggles with packaging (for instance, trying to free curtain rods from their enclosures).

This vacuum slid right out and then the task of assembling it began. Seriously, Topiary must be retarded in fitting things together because it took almost an hour. The directions are artistic but useless. The only way she got it together was fiddling with it and getting lucky.

As for suction, this vacuum would probably suction the entire house with no problem--walls, ceilings, kitchen sink. It's rather hard to push but does a great job.

Disappointing: thought by buying a Dyson it would be on a ball instead of wheels. But it just has regular wheels. And still scared to get out the "wand" because it was only through the grace of God ever figured out how to get it into the vacuum. But as for vacuuming, it is cool to just dump the dirt instead of having to use a stupid bag. You can see right when it needs dumping.

All in all, gets a B+. Would have been an A if not so stressful to assemble. Dyson DC14.

Moo!

aw fun! I'd say take it back and get the one with the ball but heaven only knows how to get it apart again.... how does it work on wood floors???

Ah, well it DOES do both floors and carpets so that is good. And the suction IS really unbelievable.

Thinking the ones with the ball might be even more expensive. This thing was already more than Cow can think of without shuddering.

I've been drooling over the Dyson Animal vac, but the idea of spending $500 on a vacuum will require a lot of getting used to. Plus I'm afraid if I vacuum all the pup hair out of my carpet, the carpet would just disintegrate.

A Dyson!

They work great on carpets and even floors. Mine isn't happy with the very uneven floorboards in my bedrooms.

Hi Susan: Nice to hear from you!
This Dyson was $399.00 and it took all the cat hair and then some! up from the rug. Seems to work very well.

Haha on carpet disintegrating!

Kevin: Something we have in common then--a bright yellow Dyson! Apparently the first ones marketed (according to the "about Dyson" brochure in the box) were pink and sold to Japan.

Perhaps yellow isn't so bad...

Glad you like yours!

oh boy, you reminded me of the bed frame sitting in seven boxes on my front porch. I bet it will take longer than an hour to put together. Next time let's buy things pre-assembled! -kate

the ball style Dyson costs $549.00. five year warranty. I figured how to put it together by accident, so don't feel bad.

I love my Dyson. Sucks like a Saturday night in Iowa.

I've had friends shocked that I spent so much on a vacuum, but I like to point out to them that in the last 10 years I've bought four differnt vacuums ranging in price from $80 to $140. Have had my Dyson now for five...

Sorry you didn't get the ball. I don't have that one either.

Pearl

p.s. For some reason, my Dyson is purple and red. Really.

There ought to be way of measuring suction power so you can compare them.

Kevin: apology accepted. Someday will get you back!

Kate: Agreed! Though they just don't seem to offer that option much--everything comes in a box, take it or leave it. :(

Hate assembling things.

RJ: Ah. So another $150 bucks for the ball. Do you like it? Is it worth the money?

Pearl: yes Cow also hopes her vacuum will continue for five years or more. For something that you use so often it's not so much to spend.

Purple and yellow eh? Oh my.

Cow luuuuves your insight into Saturday nights in Iowa and will think of this with a giggle whenever she fires up her Dyson.

Lulu: Yes everything tidy now. No more stray Topiary on the rug.

Gorilla: Cow is sure Gorilla would find some strange way to measure that....oh my!

I am on my second Dyson after my mother used the first one to clean up plaster dust.

Cost me a fortune but I love it.

RJ: that should be the motto of life too!

Linda: sorry to hear about the plaster-dust-demise...but happy that Dyson rated a return-purchase.

Wonder what color Dysons are in Australia? Are they also yellow?

Inquiring moos want to know...

They have purple, yellow, grey and also aqua. All depending on the style of one bought. Mine is a dark grey with cobalt blue trim on the container bit. And an upright. Last one was yellow.

This isn't really fair. Not only does Australia seem to produce even more gorgeous smart talented actors than America, they get more choice in vacuum colors.

sheesh.
