Saturday Evening Play
Agonizing. Frightening. Tension-filled. White-knuckler. War of nerves.
Possibly, not how play-goers usually describe performances of The Fiddler on the Roof, especially as performed by the local high-school students sporting generous amounts of gray spray-on hair, charming Russian accents, and cleverly-tattered beggar's rags.
It wasn't the performances. It was the 16 (yes, count 'em) set changes, between every act, as black-clad sprites attempted, without success, to move loads 'o things in the dark.
Crashes were heard. Tinkling sounds of breakage. Horrifying collisions by heavy objects. An occasional "ow!" Each time the lights dimmed, dread in the audience grew. Prayers were said. Fingers were crossed, to no apparent avail.
Well, a good time was had by all...except maybe the stagehand crew.
Moo!

Poor kids.
Oh dear. Well, practice makes perfect. By the time they get to Broadway they will be able to move silently in the dark moving anything.
Yeah, but think of all of the great stories they now have.
"I remember one time in high school"
That sounds fantastic!
Brilliant - I imagine the kids staggering out on stage increasingly bandaged - limping - on crutches like a scene from Monty Python
"It's just a flesh wound!"
Watercolor: when they came out to take their bows, probably as much applause was for the stagehands as the actors!
Linda: Cow couldn't help cringing at the thought of smashed toes along the way to learning!
Dog: It will probably be unforgettable, that is true!
Letters: Singing: good. Set moving: bad.
Lulu:
Welcome, new poster! Yes, instead of feeling sorry for the Russian peasants one felt a surge of compassion for their crew!
Dog: Yep, only hurts when they laugh, hahah!
Moo!
They tried to hard. People just want to hear the songs in Fiddler on the Roof. I hope they got the "Ya ha deedle deedle, bubba bubba deedle deedle dum" line right.
This sounds wonderful!
Gorilla: Cow has a sneaky suspicion that GB could do really well on the deedle dum parts himself!
Kevin: Twas an experience. Possibly...
Moo!
