Loyal reader Watercolor has been dating online, and it hasn't been easy.

Topiary thinks that dating sites should allow feedback, like eBay, where transactions between users are rated positively or negatively, and the ratings appear for all to see. A few negatives could be excused, but when the number reaches the stratosphere...and actually, just showing a stratospheric number of feedbacks would indicate something, too. Long time on the site?

By dating outside a network of acquaintances or friends, the element of feedback is lost. The rating system would restore it.

As for the trillion-dollar economic rescue plan, Topiary doubts her $400 will encourage her to buy consumer goods to rescue the country. And wonders whether the debate about whether the rescue would work could have been avoided had they just handed all that money directly to the taxpayers. Instead of $400. At the very least, we would have been spared the endless news reports of bankers blowing the bail-out funds buying themselves jets.

Moo!

But if you rate a date very highly, Ms Cow, would you want other users to know about it? Surely you'd want to keep that person for yourself!

When I started the online dating thing, I considered starting a companion site for the very purpose of rating. But one gal's trash is anothers'.. something.

Just look at Drew Peterson and his new fiance!

Watercolor: You could use paint to mark them, too....ha!

Gorilla: Perhaps people would only be rated when you were no longer dating them.

As in, he's perfect...for someone more interested in artefacts of 17th century Rome. Or something.

Daisy: Shudder at Drew Peterson. Just because he's murdered an exwife or two...!

Just goes to show good-looking guys even when they are murderers, can find somebody to date them.

Those girls wouldn't pay attention to the dating/rating system anyway.

The closest thing Cow thinks she's seen is the Hot or Not site, where people rate your attractiveness.

It just needs to expand to include more than just appearance.

Moo!

Problem is, you cannot be objective about a human being. Unlike a piece of furniture or article of clothing purchased on Ebay, the human has too many variables to consider when rating them.

We have had a rescue plan here in Aus. One just before Christmas and another one on the way. I put my money in the bank, not in the store tills.

Now some more money is being spent on some other blah blah stuff. Just does my head in.
