Rich Men

Finishing the Ted Turner book...scary, because our country was until recently run by another rich man with the same mindset.

For the rich everything has always turned out okay. Even when Ted has (through greed) sold out his company, he innocently thinks he can still call the shots. His plaintive whining over being disregarded is almost comical. For the first time in his life, he is a failure.

Ted's total obliviousness to treating his own children just as poorly as his father treated him is amazing. Despite years of therapy, he says only he was "gone too much." In actuality, his children from his first marriage were abused by their new stepfather, and when he "rescued" them by bringing them to live with he and his second wife, they were made to live in the basement with the servant, and then sent off to boarding school because new wife couldn't bring herself to like them.

Humpf.

I think you're on to something. There's a lot of similarity between Bush and Turner.

The difference seems to be that Turner has way too much self-confidence and Bush too little. Compare the way they speak and you'll see what I mean.

I've read some on Turner. He doesn't sound like a nice man.

A.Boyd C: Hmmm. That's an idea. Don't know whether Bush lacked self-confidence or was just dumb. From seeing him speak he seemed barely literate.

Dog: Yeah, Turner went through American business like a buzzsaw with about as much compassion. The book had some moments but became tiresome after a while.

Moo!

From the way he talks, you would think he was just mentally vacant, but then you read guys like Bob Woodward and even Bill Clinton say just the opposite and it makes you wonder just what the heck is really going on with that guy.

Judging from his dad, Bush is probably not going to be very public now that he's retired so we may never know.

You know a lot more about him! Haven't read Clinton or any of the others, it's hard to imagine any of them think he's smart, but I will take your word on that!

Just glad he's gone, mostly!

Moo!

I think the whole world hopes he'll retire into oblivion. JMHO.

Some people need a bit of humility. I wonder why some men and women choose to have children if they cannot give them some sort of compassionate and caring environment. It must be a strong case of just wanting to expand the gene pool no matter what.

Sandi: Luuuve your hat! And yes, oblivion would be fine, just fine. He can stay on the ranch and count his money.

Linda: As the earth staggers under the load of humanity, that children are born for reasons other than "wanting them" becomes more plain.

Cow just heard a report of how, on the Gaza strip, the Arabs and Israelies are having a breeding war, trying to out-populate the other side.

Cow is really sad to think that the only way most non-human creatures will survive is in specially constructed 'safe' areas. Nothing wrong with one or two, or maybe three, but nobody seems to stop at that anymore.

A story today treated the birth of 8 babies to a couple as the greatest thing in the world. And Cow could only think--isn't 8 too much?

Sad moo!

Eight is a bit much all at once. Apparently she said she would try to breastfeed them all. That will be interesting indeed.
