Except it won't help. The pirates come armed with rocket launchers and threaten to blow up the tankers. That's how they get control in the first place - the captain give up control to preserve the life of the crew and the multi-million dollar tanker.
"Lower the ladder or we'll blow you up." Will probably still work.
