Expectations

"We might not think we judge people according to their income or outward signs of success, but even when we know that a person's salary is completely random, people cannot avoid making the intuitive judgment that salary is correlated with worth."

and...

"What I've learned, above all, is to keep marching forward because the best news is that since chance does play a role, one important factor in success is under our control: the number of at bats, the number of chances taken, the number of opportunities seized. For even a coin weighted toward failure will sometimes land on success. "If you want to succeed, double your failure rate."

Selections from "The Drunkard's Walk: How Randomness Rules our Lives" by Leonard Mlodinow. Pantheon Books, 2008.

I googled the book - deep stuff. In fact, even the reviews did my head in. I think I will randomly keep doing what I am doing and cross my fingers it works out at the end.

Yes, as we all know, it's more important to judge someone by their blog.

Dog you are so right!

Watercolor, Cow is trying to remember what she read in this book but it's hard. The tendency is always to judge by appearances and attribute virtue to high-achievers, even if they don't have it.

Linda, Cow admits to skimming some of the more complicated parts. (fingers crossed too!)

Moo!
