Voices

Walking on the world's stage, those who speak up. So often their voices stilled prematurely.

Cow spent some time reading interviews with Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, and contrasted them with those of, say, John Lennon. Princess Diana. Even the Price is Right guy. Others who had fame thrust upon 'em and then spoke to world issues, without a specific axe to grind. Just commenting, intelligently, and at times acting upon their beliefs.

Cow wishes them and wishes there were more like them stepping up to take their place. Not the paid commentators. Not the politicians. Just disinterested observers, noticing what is going on and afforded coverage to air their views.

Moo!

I think cow should go nationwide!! You would be perfect! I'll go as your photographer. You know to document. Think of the good you would do, plus the places you will go!

I vote Cow!!!

At the same time, I hate it when people think their opinions matter more just because they're famous.

I'm with the doghouse on this one.

I remember the really peculiar moment when, at the end of an edition of Opportunity Knocks the host, Hughie "I Mean That Most Sincerely, I Really Do" Green suddenly launched into a mad oration of sub-Shakespearian patriotism, with stirring backing by "Uncle" Bob Sharples and his band, ending with the rising cry: "Rise up! Rise up Britain and be great again!"

Astonishing. One minute you're watching a bloke hit himself on the head with a tea tray while singing "Mule Train," next minute it's Henry the bloody Fifth.

Christy: Cow much too modest. But thanks you for the compliment!

Doghouse: Agreed. It's just that famous people have the platform that non-famous don't to speak and be heard.

Kevin: Cow would have liked to have seen that, and hopes this guy wasn't asassinated like other Voices were.

(Cow rising up and proclaiming Topiary greatness!)
