Minions

So Cow has been working on this project. There are four department heads "officially" assigned to do it.

So, those four have meetings and then come back and tell us, the minions, the ones who actually do the work, what they want.

Needless to say, nobody is getting it right.

I saw one of the other minions in the hallway the other day and joked that we should have our own meeting. Doubtless everything would go faster if the people who DO the projects were included in the meetings.

But then the managers would have to acknowledge to themselves and to others that they don't do this stuff, they just assign it down.

Moo!

The managers' meetings are surely also a project which requires management. Perhaps you minions should manage these meetings, so the managers know what to discuss.

Gorilla, again, humble Cow is stunned with your razor-sharp intellect. Minions meeting will be scheduled asap.

Sandi, Cow was merely being discreet. What happens on the blog, stays on the blog. Okay, will say hi next time!

Doghouse, your insights are true, too true.

Moo!

Seriously, in the case of any project there are two levels of project management:

The meetings where the project managers mismanage the project to oblivion.

The meetings where the minions get together around lunch tables, coffee tables or lavatory stalls to fix the mess, draw a veil over proceedings and construct the occasional tar baby for the project managers to fight over.

This is standard practice in English local government but librarians never seem to be able to get the knack.
