America, or, the search for bathrooms

Maybe it's only women who can tell you the exact location of the bathroom everywhere they've ever been. First, middle, or last thing they do: scope out the 'facilities.'

Maybe in Dubai, though, you'd skip it. "The public toilets in the king-of-bling Gold Souk district are holes in the ground with no toilet paper or soap. Hoses to rinse your nether regions, however, are provided. This results in a mass of water on the floor that you must stand in to pee. Try squatting without touching anything and keeping your pants from touching anything either. Oh yeah. It’s 120 degrees in there."

Thanks for this slice of life outside America.

When my SIL took me to some state park in Florida last month, she warned me to use the facilities by the parking area if I had to 'go'. She said the ones down by the lake were more primitive.

Taking her advice I did visit the facilities there and walking out was thinking, "Gawd if the other ones or worse than these, I don't want to see it."

Asking my MIL about them, she said, "oh yes, the other bathrooms are really just holes in the ground. There is no plumbing."

So basically all they've done is to provide you privacy (a stall) for going behind the tree.

Florida, eh?

Didn't know the state was so primitive (marking down in notebook to bring own toilet paper).
